 I just saw Dune II, and I need to train harder. Out of all the spectacular scenes in the movie... out of all the cinematics... the CGI... the character developments.... even the plot itself...what I admired the most: the duels. What is it about 1v1s that are so entertaining? A clash of wills and a battle of resolve between two men. No it is not just the violence or the combat that makes it so intriguing. Not the just the unspoken respect, a homage to a greater code. It is the RISK. To either WIN or LOSE. DEATH or GLORY. The honor, fortune, and pride that comes with winning. TO DO SOMETHING DARING. Risk, we CRAVE it; that's what I've been missing. I need to take MORE RISK. Even in failure, valiant attempts are glorious. I want that. Think about it - all the great 1 on 1s. Maximus in the colosseum. Achilles vs Hector in the Iliad. Paul Atredies vs Feyd Rautha in Dune. David vs Goliath in the Bible. Steph Curry vs Sabrina. Some of these people had so much to lose and very little ...

Ball w/o you by 21 Update: All my comrades have fallen, I am the last avenger. They slumber; it is midnight... but I will not sleep. Not until I finish this list - it is a quest given to me from my past self. I will not let him down. If someone offered you 3 million dollars but you had to wake up at 4:00AM, train for 3 hours, and study for 12 hours everyday for 3 months. Pure discipline and commitment to the grind. Could you do it? For 3 million? EASY.  When given a strong enough reason, people will go above and beyond to accomplish the needed tasks. Lets switch it up, what about a million to get +90th percentile on Mcat? Step? 10 pounds of muscle? Think about it... people would drop everything and commit their current lives for a milli. Now, what if instead of money, you were promised acceptance into your dream school, residency, job, physique, and etc. Is it no longer enough? If you are not putting in the same effort then you simply don't want it. Train like your about to be paid...
