House of Gold

"She asked me, Son, when I grow old
Will you buy me a house of gold?
And when your father turns to stone
Will you take care of me?"

I write this to my mother in honor of Mother's Day.

Dear Mom,

Thank you. Thank you for all the butt whoopins as a child. You were the tiger mom we all needed (LOL). In all seriousness though, thank you for always being there for us... for sacrificing your education to make our childhood vast with experiences. The zoo, the hot hair balloon festivals, swim team practices, the backyard picnics, the free reading programs at the library, the free movies every Tuesday morning in the summer, basically anything free  - we remember it all. You taught us the mindset of hard work and determination; second place was never enough (neither were B's), no slacking or giving up EVER. I hope you know that you were never too hard on us (we needed it lol). We love your energy; you wear your heart on your sleeve. Always passionate whether it was sports you dont understand to dancing or karaoke! And oh yeah, nothing beats mom's cooking (even that one time you made orange juice stew LOL KEKW)

I know you will probably never read this (no one knows of this blog), but I want to make you promise (ok now this is more for me to remember). When I finish my education and spread of my wings, you will NEVER have to work a day in your life again. I know you love to travel and YOU WILL. Every damn country from the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli. Paris, Tokyo, Sydney? Just name it. You fed me so now the best chefs in the world will cook for you. Steaks, prime rib, & sushi everyday. Spas every afternoon and beaches every weekend. I promise you the world because your sons will never forsake you. I speak for all your sons (and maybe your daughter? jk of course haha).
